Lucy's review of Mr Gum and the Goblins.

Hello today a girl from my school called Lucy (who is 6) has written my first guest post. Mr Gum and the Goblins sounds like a good book. I have written a review on a Mr Gum book before (Mr Gum and the Powder Crystals). This is the link to it. Thank you to Lucy!

Mr Gum and the Goblins by Andy Stanton (reviewed by Lucy Ritter)

Hello, my name is Lucy and I am writing about Mr Gum and the Goblins.

The book is about a little gingerbread man called Alan Taylor and his friends, Polly and Friday. Polly and Friday go onto Goblin Mountain because the sweet shop owner was attacked by goblins. They have to do three challenges to get onto the mountain. The first one is really silly because the challenge is to guess the troll’s name and then he tells them his name is Arthur! The second challenge is frightening because the witch is going to do spells. The third challenge is really funny because it is all about a gherkin. When they get onto Goblin Mountain they find out that the goblin king is Mr Gum. The goblins tell them that the village they live in will be turned into a goblin city. Polly and Friday have to stop the goblins with the help of Polly’s friend the dog.

This book made me cry a lot, especially when Alan Taylor said goodbye to his friends. That made me feel really sad. But the challenges were really funny!

I would tell my friends to read this book because it is funny and silly and some of it is really sad too. I really liked it, and I want to make my friends read it as well.
