Todd Hewit is the last boy in Prentisstown, where you can constantly hear everyone's thoughts. There is no privacy, and no secrets, until Todd and his dog Manchee stumble across a patch of silence. The town has been lying to them, and now they have to run away. But how can you run away when everyone can hear your thoughts?

My Best Friend and Other Enemies

This new book is one of my favourites and one that other children around my age can relate to. It is an easy read and not too fat, nor too thin. My Best Friend and Other Enemies is based on a girl called Jessica, who has had a best friend called Natalie since year one. They did everything together. They wrote songs, played games and had sleepovers. That was untill new girl Amelia joins, who steals Natalie and bullies Jessica. Will Jessica ever be able to outwit Amelia and Natalie but keep everyone as friends? It isn't too boyish or too girly and is a great book about school. I thoroughly recommend this funny, enjoyable and entertaining book 100% to 9-11 year olds. Enjoy!



Doubting Thomas

Hi.
Today I am reviewing Doubting Thomas by Morris Gleitzman.
It is a book about a boy in Australia who has nipples that itch whenever someone lies. He soon finds out that the problem with his nipples could lead to his death.
This is a truly gripping book and I couldn't put it down.
This book is a medium sized book with 178 pages.
It starts off in Australia but ends up in Paris.
My favourite part of the book was when Monsieur Poulet(the husband of someone who Thomas and his friends went to look for) said "Bottom plops! That is the only English swear word I know!" Then one of Thomas's friend offered to write some down for him!
This is an extremly enjoyable book which I recommend to 7-10 year olds.

My mum's going to explode!

Like most of Jeremy Strong's books, this book is incredibly funny.
My favourite bit was when the pregnant mum of a boy called Nicholas goes on a diet of sausages. It's all she wants to eat.

In this story Nicholas gets a bit fed up and bored. His Grandma and her husband need to find a new house, all Nicholas's mum will cook is sausages and his grandma is a bit deaf.

Nag Club

This book is fabulous!

It is about a girl called Lola and she is an expert parent nagger.

Lots of Lola's friends want a boggle hat (which are hats that come in all shapes and sizes.)

The problems with those boggle hats is that they cost LOADS of money.

Lola makes a club to show her friend how to nag for a boggle hat.

Everything goes well untill Lola's friends discover a better way to get what they want...

Anne Fine was very clever to think of writing a book like this, and she is also really good at writing funny stories. I also really like the fact that the chapters are named after different kinds of nags.

I really recommend this book for 5-9 year olds.
